I grew up in a beach town in North County San Diego. I spent most of my youth surfing, which allowed me many opportunities for travel and adventure, but also distracted me from many other things. I joined the Navy when I turned 18 and spent near 6 years on active duty, mostly driving very fast boats.

My Story

After I left the Navy I returned to school and graduated from UC Berkeley. I went on to medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in my favorite borough of New York City, The Bronx. I received a scholarship for med school from the Navy. In return, I spent 8 more years in the Navy as a physician.

I trained as a psychiatrist in the Navy, treating men and women who were in service of our country, as well as their family members. I feel very blessed to be a doctor. To be able to sit with people during the hardest times of their lives and offer some hope and help brings me incredible joy. I find it to be a true honor and privilege. I left the Navy for the last time in 2021 and since then I have worked in various public and private health care settings.

Outside of work

I am married and we have 4 children. We love being together as a family and enjoying the natural world—whether in the mountains, desert, or ocean, we find our joy in God’s creation.

I have also worked as an ocean lifeguard, a ski lift mechanic, and cupcake salesman.

Why I do this work

Lastly, I am no stranger to suffering. As humans, we all face some degree of anguish, suffering, or uncertainty. But I also know that we all have infinite capacity for growth. For me, living with purpose and seeking to serve God has enriched my life. There is a way for everyone to be better, feel better, and do better. It is my privilege to help people get there.
